Discernment in Spiritual Direction
Six week On-line Course
September 22 – October 31, 2014
At the heart of spiritual direction is the process of discerning life-direction or life-meaning. This can also be described as seeking God’s will for each era of our life. This six-week on-line course will work through the resources of Discerning Life Transitions: Listening Together in Spiritual Direction with the author, Dwight Judy. We will note the many arenas of life that impact our discernment including work, family, health concerns, spiritual practices, and practical issues. As we companion others as spiritual directors, we listen for the soul’s deepest longings for meaningful service in our work, volunteer, and family commitments. Class participants will post weekly assignments on-line for small group conversation. Issues from their personal discernment and from directees will be explored in a confidential and supportive environment. A bibliography of additional resources in discernment will be shared. Each participant will read at least one of these books and share insights gained for spiritual direction with the class.
